2:27 am - And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed
GIVEN NAME: Glory
ASSUMED NAME: Gloria Thomas
(ASSUMED) AGE: 26
RANK: Seraphim
(ASSUMED) OCCUPATION: Paramedic
SPECIES: Angel
ALIGNMENT: Heaven
GENDER PREFERENCE: She doesn’t know, really. She’s not used to being human

POWER: Glory is your typical guardian angel: she’s got healing capabilities that can easily fix broken skin, knit bones back together, restart a heartbeat and even (in certain circumstances) bring humans back from the brink of death. This power also acts in a less direct way to keep frightened or angry humans calmer than they normally would be. Perhaps it’s all the healing energy Glory has stored within herself, but her very presence seems to exude calming vibes. Glory does not only see herself as a healer, however: she’s learned that the holy healing energy she wields can be pretty nasty to demons, although, because her energy leaves through her skin, skin-to-skin contact is generally required for her to do any damage. Still, it’s a handy battle skill to have, and she’d jump at the chance to make use of it if anyone would let her.

APPEARANCE: Glory’s host is a tall, athletically built woman with stunning blue eyes and a plethora of beautiful long blonde hair. Although Gloria-the-human is general a very stylish, put-together person, Glory has clearly taken a toll on Gloria’s body. The body itself remains free from cuts, bruises and broken bones, a handy side effect of Glory’s healing capabilities, but Glory’s presence announces itself in other ways. Most noticeably there are constant dark circles beneath her eyes, a result of Glory’s consistent failure to allow her new human form enough sleep. (Gloria has recently talked Glory into six and a half hours, but that’s never really constant.) The closet full of heels that Gloria used to wear have gone largely unworn since Glory took over, as has the stash of makeup Gloria keeps on hand. In the first few weeks Glory had terrible fashion sense, but she’s been able to more or less match Gloria’s style once her host was awakened. Glory has still not quite figured out how to deal with her host’s hair, which has grown significantly in the month that she’s been in possession of this body, and therefore it has a tendency to look a little disheveled.

PERSONALITY: You know that girl in your high school class who was obsessed with be the valedictorian to the point that she’d cry if she got a slightly less than perfect score on anything? Turn that girl into an angel, and you’ve got Glory. An ambitious little angel, Glory loves her work and she puts her heart and soul into it. It should be noted, though, that Glory is not ambitious in the sense that she’ll step on other people to “get to the top” as it were; she just wants to be noticed. Glory was created with a deep-seated urge to protect humans, but in the hundreds of years that Glory’s been helping them and healing them, that urge eventually grew into something more. The angel decided that it would be much harder for humans to be lead astray if there were fewer demons in the world and ever since the angel has been determined to eventually reach a status where it’s acceptable to fight those demons directly instead of dealing with their aftermath.

HISTORY: Glory is a comparatively young angel, created only about five hundred years ago. She’s spend most of her time in heaven being a fabulous angel, one generally assigned to basic “search-and-rescue” type jobs that required her to save key humans who were steadfastly trying to die before their time. Her go-getter attitude and solid sense of determination made her perfect for the job that she was custom-made for, but she eventually grew curious. Although she cared about humans and was generally empathetic to them as God’s crown of creation and all that, Glory always longed to be a warrior.

After some sucking up and a little clever arm-twisting, Glory was finally assigned to an earthbound position as a plainclothes guardian angel. Glory was thrilled at this opportunity and jumped right in. Glory helped a lot of people in her first week on the job, which was great for her perfectionist side, but the warrior within was discontent. Fortunately for Glory’s inner warrior, the angel happened to run across a demon one night in her second week of being earthbound and she summarily exorcised it. Finally managing to rid the earth of a demon (even if it wasn’t technically dead) was such a rush that Glory began seeking demons out, even occasionally skipping shifts at work in order to hunt. Glory became an exorcism machine, and by the time she discovered Mariel McKenzie in the fifth week of her assignment, she did what she always did: she exorcised Mariel, fixed her outward cuts and scrapes, and disappeared to find her next target. That target, unfortunately, happened to be an a demonic Asura, and, to make a very long and unfortunate story short, Glory got her angelic ass thoroughly kicked and was sent back to Heaven the next day.

After a severe tongue-lashing from several of her superiors, Glory was unceremoniously returned to her previous position for the next two earth years. The angel was unhappy with her circumstances and although at first her discomfort had more to do with her wounded pride and her mortification at being slapped on the wrist, she eventually grew genuinely concerned about the welfare of those whom she had speed-exorcised. After copious amounts of pleading, she was finally able to receive a second chance at going down to earth, with the condition that her new host, Gloria Thomas, maintained a small bit of control over her consciousness so she could serve as an ironic sort of voice of reason, partially to help Gloria better adjust to her human surroundings and partially to hold her back from doing anything rash. Glory’s new assignment has elements of the general “save the endangered humans” task that it always had, but this time she’s got a more pointed focus: she’s supposed to look after some of those she exorcised. Glory’s first choice in this matter is Mariel, the last unfortunate possession victim Glory exorcised.

host’s bio
GIVEN NAME: Gloria Thomas
ASSUMED NAME: Ria
(ASSUMED) AGE: 26
RANK: None
(ASSUMED) OCCUPATION: Paramedic
SPECIES: Human
ALIGNMENT: Heaven
GENDER PREFERENCE: Male

POWER: She’s an unusually easy host for an angel to possess and she maintains a psychic connection with Glory while the angel is possessing her body. This connection allows her to “talk” to the angel and let her know when she’s doing something bad for their shared body. She cannot take over unless Glory herself is completely incapacitated (i.e. she’s exorcised or her consciousness is frozen somehow) or unless Glory leaves for a while.

APPEARANCE: See above

PERSONALITY: Gloria is kind, compassionate, and fully devoted to the church. She donates everything it’s possible to give - clothing, hair, food, blood – you name it and if she can, she’ll give it. This was a trait that came in really handy when Glory approached her (in a weird, metaphysical way) and asked if Gloria would consider offering her body as a vessel for one of God’s heavenly creatures. Gloria, of course, said yes.

HISTORY: Until her possession, Gloria Thomas led a fairly normal life. She was always a sweet, clever girl who would bend over backwards to help people in need, even from an early age. Her childhood was fairly average; she grew up in a loving, middle-class family with two caring parents, one younger sister and one older brother. All through middle school and high school she was an active member in volunteer organizations like Key Club and Amnesty International, a trend which continued during her four years at Smith College. When she left school she spent two years in the Peace Corps and when she came back, instead of picking up grad school like she had originally planned, she enrolled in an EMT program and has been working as a paramedic ever since.

Although she’s had a few boyfriends here and there, she’s never quite gotten around to getting married, which is yet another perfect fit for Glory, who, as yet, knows very little of the human body and its temptations.
